“KPI Inc.” LLP is Muzafar’s first official place of work. He began his career in 2019 as a technician at PP and U&O Department. He has first learnt about the IPCI project at his 4th year of studies at Kazakh Research and Technical University named after K. Satpayev, when KPI specialists visited our university and presented the polypropylene production project. Then he had a chance to pass an interview and make it into the first wave of future operators of the plant.
New Polypropylene Grades: An Important Step Towards Kazakhstan's Raw Material Independence
The production of polypropylene grades PP H031 BF/7, PP H253 FF/7, PP H350 FF/7, and PP H270 FF/7, previously imported, has become a significant event for Kazakhstan's polymer industry. These grades are now available to domestic polymer product manufacturers, reducing dependence on imports and promoting the development of domestic industrial sectors.
In June, KPI Company achieved record sales figures in the domestic market, capturing around 50% of the polypropylene market in Kazakhstan. Thanks to KPI's efforts in supporting domestic processing, the share of domestic polypropylene in the country's market increased to 80%, replacing imported counterparts.
Polypropylene Prices: How KPI Supports Domestic Processors
The pricing logic for Kazakhstani polypropylene is aimed at systematic support and development of the domestic processing industry. To explain polypropylene pricing, the Kazakhstan Petrochemical Industries Inc. (KPI) petrochemical complex provides the following information.
KPI polypropylene prices for domestic processors are comparable to the cost of its sale in the domestic markets of other countries. On average, these prices are $961 per ton. However, on global markets, prices vary by region: in China — $905–960, in Europe — $1200, in Turkey — $1210-1225 per ton. These differences are due to supply and demand in the respective markets.
