During a working visit to the Atyrau region, Askhat Khasenov, Chairman of the Management Board of JSC NC KazMunayGas (KMG), visited the Kazakhstan Petrochemical Industries Inc. (KPI) gas-chemical complex. A meeting was held to discuss the facility's production activities, domestic market supplies, and export expansion.

The enterprise is demonstrating steady growth in key operational indicators: in the first seven months of the current year, the plant produced 248.4 thousand tons of polypropylene. For comparison, 219 thousand tons were produced during the same period last year.

By the end of 2025, the enterprise had shipped a total of 365 thousand tons of polymer products to customers in Kazakhstan and abroad, while sales volume reached 193 thousand tons in the first half of 2026 alone.

Meanwhile, the total volume of polypropylene supplies to domestic consumers rose by nearly 18% year-on-year during the first seven months of the current year, reaching 26 thousand tons. During this period, shipments via KPI’s regional warehouses tripled, rising from 3.68 thousand to 12 thousand tons.

Favorable logistics infrastructure and incentive programs have contributed to a significant expansion of the partner network: the customer base of KPI’s processors grew from 105 enterprises at the beginning of 2025 to over 180 companies in 2026.

Since the beginning of the current year, 29 new domestic companies have joined the pool of processors. Among them are manufacturers of packaging for food, household, and industrial use (Aurora LLP, CASPIAN COMMERCIAL SERVICE LLP, SBKCompany LLP, Khvamda Machinery LLP);
cable, wire, and electrical equipment (Kazelectromash LLP, TIGER ELECTRO LLP, LUMO LLP); construction materials and hardware (Teplomax LLP, FORES LLP, Trans Polymer LLP, TRUZHENIK RK LLP);
medical containers (Perfect ECO LLP); and consumer goods.

Furthermore, thanks to guaranteed supplies from KPI, Kazakhstan has begun producing high-value-added goods that were previously imported: sack packaging, spunbond non-woven fabric, industrial packaging, big bags, BOPP film, multifilament yarns, and valved cement bags.

Alongside meeting domestic market demand, KPI is increasing exports of target polypropylene grades to Europe, Turkey, and Russia, while transitional grades are being shipped to China. Shipments to European Union countries have seen particularly notable growth: 91.4 thousand tons of premium-quality polypropylene were supplied in the first half of the year—a 67% increase compared to the same period last year.

Today, KPI’s product range comprises 17 grades of polypropylene used in the construction, textile, packaging, and household goods industries.

The head of KMG issued specific directives to the enterprise's management regarding ensuring the plant's stable operation, preparing to extend intervals between maintenance shutdowns, expanding the product portfolio to include high-margin grades, and steadily increasing export potential.
