Kazakhstan Petrochemical Industries Inc. LLP (KPI) organized a football tournament for the CEO’s Cup to mark the 4th anniversary of the start-up of the First Integrated Petrochemical Complex. The competition brought together teams from partner companies. At the end of the tournament, the KPI footballers won silver, whilst Aibar Nurybekov was named the best player.
Eight teams competed for the cup: two KPI teams, representatives from EmbaMunayGas JSC, AOR LLP, the Atyrau Oil Pipeline Administration of KazTransOil JSC, KMG PetroChem LLP, SILLENO LLP and Karabatan Utility Solutions LLP.
In the semi-finals, the KPI players beat the ‘KazTransOil’ team 3–1 to reach the final. In the second semi-final, the EmbaMunayGas team won AOR 5–2.
KPI and ‘Embamunaygaz’ faced off in the cup final. It was a tense contest right up to the last minute, when the Embamunaygaz players scored the winning goal to seal a 3–2 victory. The KPI team finished as silver medallists in the tournament. In the third-place play-off, the AOR players beat ‘KazTransOil’ 2–1.
The tournament winners were awarded a cash prize of 250,000 tenge, the silver medalists - 150,000 tenge, and the bronze medalists - 100,000 tenge.
Following the competition, awards were also presented to the best players in individual categories:
• Best Player — Aibar Nurybekov (KPI);
• Top Scorer — Zhumakhmet Azhmukhan (Embamunaygaz);
• Best Defender — Dias Rakhimzhanov (АOR);
• Best goalkeeper — Talap Daribay (KazTransOil).
The tournament gave colleagues the opportunity to meet outside the production sites and showcase their sporting skills. The spirit of competition on the pitch and mutual support created a special atmosphere and strengthened the bonds of friendship between the companies.
