In Atyrau, Chairman of the Board of JSC NC KazMunayGas (KMG) Askhat Khasenov visited the petrochemical complex of Kazakhstan Petrochemical Industries Inc. LLP (KPI is a subsidiary of KMG).
During the meeting held at KPI, measures were discussed to implement production work and ensure stable operation of the enterprise. KPI produced 175 thousand tons of polypropylene in the first five months of this year.
Special attention was paid to the supply of polypropylene to the domestic market. It was noted that since the beginning of 2025, the domestic polypropylene processing market has grown by 28% compared to the same period last year, reaching a volume of 21.3 thousand tons.
Domestically, KPI demonstrates a steady growth in its share. If for the whole of 2024, the company's sales volume amounted to 22.9 thousand tons (this is 57% of the market), then in the first half of 2025 alone, the plant plans to sell about 19 thousand tons, taking over 70% of the market. It is expected that in June, sales to the domestic market will be record-breaking, including due to an increase in the share of long-term contracts.
Such dynamics became possible due to the growth of the client base, where more than 60 out of 130 Kazakhstani companies purchase polypropylene on a monthly basis. This is facilitated by the KPI support programs "Forsazhi". In May alone, shipments under these programs amounted to over 340 tons, and in June it is expected to be at the level of 400 tons.
KPI products are widely used today in Kazakhstan for the production of packaging, construction materials, textiles and technical products. In addition to the domestic market, Kazakhstani polypropylene is also supplied to China, Russia, Turkey and European countries.
The head of KMG gave the management of KPI a number of instructions aimed at improving the reliability of production and further strengthening commercial positions in the domestic market.
