KPI Officially Opens Warehouse in Shymkent

Kazakhstan Petrochemical Industries Inc. (KPI), a subsidiary of JSC NC KazMunayGas, held an official opening ceremony for its warehouse in Shymkent. The facility is designed for the storage and supply of polypropylene to domestic processors in the southern regions of Kazakhstan.
The warehouse has been operating in test mode since February 2026; during this period, 3,800 tons of polypropylene have already been shipped to processing enterprises. It has a storage capacity of up to 1,000 tons.
"Our goal is not only to provide customers with high-quality products but also to deliver the necessary volumes on time. The Shymkent warehouse has improved the availability of KPI polypropylene for processors in the southern region and reduced delivery times. This, in turn, helps customers plan their production processes more reliably and optimize logistics costs," KPI representatives noted.
On the day of the official opening, regular KPI clients—such as Bal Carpet and Marvik Partners—received products from the warehouse.
The expansion of KPI’s warehousing infrastructure is taking place against the backdrop of steady growth in polypropylene supplies to domestic processors. In the first eight months of 2026, shipments of polypropylene to the domestic market increased by 23.4% compared to the same period last year.
KPI’s client base of processors grew from 105 enterprises at the beginning of 2025 to over 180 companies in 2026. Shipments via KPI’s regional warehouses—located in Astana, Almaty, and Shymkent—more than tripled, rising from 3.68 thousand tons to 13.55 thousand tons during the first eight months of the current year. Today, KPI polypropylene is used by Kazakhstani enterprises to manufacture construction materials, medical products, agro-textiles, carpets, and other goods. This domestic polymer feedstock is also utilized in new manufacturing operations that previously relied on imports.
KPI’s product range includes polypropylene grades suitable for manufacturing packaging for food products and hygiene items. These materials meet the quality and safety standards required for the finished products.
KPI continues to expand its product portfolio; the company currently produces 17 grades of polypropylene. The launch of KPI has significantly altered the domestic market landscape: since 2022, Kazakhstan’s import dependency for polypropylene has dropped from 63% to 4%, while KPI’s market share has risen from 2% to 80%. The KPI gas-chemical complex largely meets domestic demand for polypropylene and fosters conditions for the growth of small and medium-sized businesses in the polymer processing sector.
